Hi Elboya Britannia Community Association members,

I hope you have all had a fantastic winter and enjoying this brief warm respite! I’ve certainly enjoyed some of the best ski conditions I can remember since I’ve been in Calgary.

Events
Thanks to everyone who came out for the skating social on February 10, it was a fantastic event with lots of families in attendance.

Townhall meeting 
When: 7pm Thursday March 21, 2024
Where:  Temple B'nai Tikvah, 900 47 Avenue SW
What: The EBCA is hosting Councillor Walcott to discuss the proposed Citywide Rezoning. Take the opportunity to ask Councillor Walcott questions and give him your feedback.
Background
The City is recommending Citywide Rezoning of over 310,000 properties in low-density neighbourhoods like ours. If approved by Council, it will allow the replacement of an existing house with 4 Rowhouses plus secondary suites; total of 8 units on a typical Elboya lot (potentially 12 units on larger Britannia lots).
April 22 City Council Meeting
At their April 22 meeting, Council will hold a Public Hearing and vote to approve Citywide Rezoning. Residents can participate in the hearing through written submissions and in person speeches.

Easter Egg Hunt
When: 10:30am Saturday March 30, 2024
Where: Elboya Park, 47th Avenue Southwest
What: Come join us for an Easter Egg Hunt at Elboya Park (near the playground)!  There will be a hunt for younger children at 10:30am followed by one for older kids at 11:00am.
Bring your own baskets!

Community Cleanup
When: Sunday May 12 2024, 9am - 2pm
Where: EBCA Community Hall Parking Lot
What: Save a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in waste and recycling carts or for residents who do not have cart service. There will be electronics and metal recycling, as well as representatives from the Calgary Drop in Center collecting donations of household items, clothing, furniture etc - visit here for more details

Coffee with a Uniform - save the date
When: Wednesday May 15 2024, 11am - 1pm
Where: TBC
What: Our Community Resource Officer (CRO) will be hosting a Coffee with a Uniform. This is an event for local residents to get to know their CRO as well as meet with representatives from other agencies. 

Skating Rink update
Our community skating rinks in Britannia and Elboya have finally transitioned to spring pond status, but a massive thank you to the “rink rats” who have outdone themselves again this season in creating great ice sheets despite all the weather challenges. 
It takes a lot of time and effort to keep these rinks in great condition - please consider volunteering, buying a community membership or donating to the rink fundraiser today!
