Hi everyone, hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the winter weather.

AGM recap
A big thank you to everyone who attended our AGM at the end of November, what a great turnout! It was wonderful to meet so many of you in person and hear your perspectives and questions on the topics addressed by our guest speakers.

Events
Development meeting 
When: 7pm Wednesday February 7, 2024
Where:  Temple B'nai Tikvah, 900 47 Avenue SW
What: The City of Calgary is implementing significant changes to Development rules in our neighbourhoods. 

Blanket Upzoning
On April 22, 2024 there will be a public hearing and City Council vote to approve the replacement of the current R-C1 zone (single family homes) with the R-CG zone throughout Calgary.  R-CG allows the replacement of an existing house with 4 Rowhouses plus secondary suites; 8 units on typical lots (up to 12 units on larger Britannia lots).

Chinook Local Area Plan
The City is creating the Chinook LAP  which will set out additional specific densification policies for our neighbourhoods.
For example, the current draft recommends that multi-unit buildings, four stories or higher, be allowed on the lots surrounding all green spaces.

Animal Costume Skating Social 
When: 2-4pm Saturday February 3, 2024
Where: Crescent Park (Britannia) skating rink, 925 Crescent Blvd SW
What: Dress up in your favourite animal costume and join your neighbours for a fun afternoon of skating, hot drinks and snacks!

Easter Egg Hunt (more details to come)

When: Saturday March 30, 2024
Where: Elboya Park
What: Save the date - come join us for some Easter fun! More details to follow

Skating Rink update
It’s been an interesting start to the skating season to say the least! After being one of the first communities to open our outdoor rinks, the “rink rats” battled through unseasonable weather (at both ends of the thermometer) to create incredibly smooth ice sheets at  both the Crescent Park and Stanley Park rinks. 
It was great to see so many people out enjoying the rinks during the holiday season, it is really a magical sight.
It takes a lot of time and effort to keep these rinks in great condition - please consider volunteering, buying a community membership or donating to the rink fundraiser today!

Calgary River Valleys Project – Engagement information
The City of Calgary is planning for the future of our river valleys, including our flood hazard areas, through the Calgary River Valleys Project. The Calgary River Valley Project is launching Stage 2 engagement on January 29, 2024. The City will look at floodplain policy and land use decisions, with a focus on location-specific regulations and flood mapping.
Calgary River Valleys Project Stage 2 engagement is open January 29 – March 3, 2024. Calgarians can provide feedback through an online survey, or by attending an in-person drop-in event or a virtual information session. Engagement is open to all Calgarians who wish to participate. A big thank you to association member Rob who rebuilt the "Little Free Library" in the Elboya playground. It looks fantastic and we really appreciate your help.
