Blanket Upzoning
On April 22, 2024 there will be a public hearing and City Councill vote to approve the replacement of the current R-C1 zone (single family homes) with the R-CG zone throughout Calgary. R-CG allows the replacement of an existing house with 4 Rowhouses/Townhouses, plus secondary suites; 8 units on typical lots (up to 12 units on larger Britannia lots).
Chinook Local Area Plan
The City is creating the Chinook LAP which will set out additional specific densification policies for our neighbourhoods. For example, the current draft recommends that multi-unit buildings, four stories or higher, be allowed on the lots surrounding all green spaces.
